Install IKEv2 IPSec Certificate

REQUIRED STEPS

 

  1. From your computer download our IPSec certificate.

     

    CLICK TO DOWNLOAD CERT

    You only have to do this part once per device.

  2. Locate your downloads folder (Face Icon in Dock -> Downloads from left side) and double click on the WiTopia_IPSEC_CA.pem file
  3. When prompted choose ADD
  4. If you get a username and password pop-up this is for your local computer and NOT the vpn. Enter your computers username and password o authorize the installation of the IPSec Certificate

  5. Open Keychain: Finder (Face Icon in Dock) -> Applications -> Utilities -> Keychain Access.app
  6. Click on “login” on the left side
  7. In the “search” in the top right of Keychain Access search for “WiTopia” to locate the WiTopia_IPSEC_CA.crt
  8. Double-click on the certificate, and in the first dropdown box that reads “When using this certificate”, select “Always Trust”. Then close the window/li>
  9. When prompted for your username and password, enter your local computer username and password (not the VPN or WiTopia password). Then click “update settings”/li>
  10. The certificate is now installed. You can proceed to setting up the vpn./p>

Setting up IKEv2 IPSec

  1. Click on the Apple Icon -> System preferences > Network
  2. Click the plus sign “+” to add a connection
  3. For ‘Interface’, select VPN
  4. For “VPN type” select IKEv2
  5. Enter a Service Name (can be any name you want, this is for your ease of managing vpn profiles)
  6. Select the connection you just created, on the left-hand side, and enter the following details:

  7. Click Authentication Settings, and set the following:
    • Authentication type: Username
    • Username: [Your VPN username]
    • There are two potential formats for your vpn username. You must use the one you selected when you activated your service. If you do not remember, you can log in to your account on our website here here and under your active service it says “USERNAME”. This is your VPN username.

      #1: Your email = W\your@email.com
      #2: WiTopia username = username@witopia

      You MUST use a Capital W with a backslash “\” if your vpn username is an email.
      If you have a username ending in “@witopia” then you do *not* use W\ before the username or “.net” after the username/blockquote>

    • Password: [Your VPN password]
    • Click OK
  8. Click Apply

    Be sure the “Show VPN status in menubar” option is checked for easier connect and disconnect

    Your vpn is set up! You can connect and disconnect the VPN as needed./p>

Connecting and Disconnecting IKEv2 IPSec VPN

1. Click on the VPN icon in the menubar and select the VPN profile you want to connect to.

2. The icon will change from full black to a white center when connected.

3.To disconnect click the menubar icon and choose disconnect
